Traveler's Diarrhea

First-line vs. alternate empiric treatment for TD. Not prophylactic — for use if symptoms develop.

Azithromycin 250mg — Travelers Diarrhea (1st line) 1g single dose or 500mg x3 days. Preferred in pregnancy, quinolone resistance areas (S/SE Asia). Ciprofloxacin 500mg — Travelers Diarrhea (alternate) 500mg BID x3 days or 750mg single dose. Avoid in pregnancy and areas with high fluoroquinolone resistance.

Malaria Prophylaxis

Altitude Sickness Prevention

⚠ Dosing: 125mg BID (½ of 250mg tab, twice daily). Duration: start 1 day before ascent + full days above 2500m. Minimum 48h therapy.

Acetazolamide (Diamox) 250mg — Altitude Sickness Contraindicated in sulfa allergy. May stop after 48h if well-acclimatized. Continue if symptomatic or ascending further.
